Blog Posting 3B

Slashdot.org Logo and Link

This blog is probably the most popular technology site out there. There are areas for games, hardware, Apple, book reviews, mobile, and more. I tend to try to keep up with new and emerging technology and this site helps me accomplish this. The site offers useful features for anyone interested in technology and current events. Articles are posted throughout the day by site visitors and quite often the comments get very entertaining. By signing up for a free account you can begin to contribute to the site. After all it is the members who make the site run. Microsoft is coming out with a new operating system soon and information was leaked on this site before Microsoft released the news.

Blogs have really changed how we receive information. Many of the stories I get from this blog I would have had to wait for a monthly magazine to come out just a few years ago. Blogs make it even easier to get information spread across the globe in a small amount of time

  1. This is a great resource. However, I do feel really dumb when reading about technology. I feel like I am becoming my mother......she can't work the remote control! I always want to be able to work the remote control!!!!! Thanks for the info......continuing to read about technology will help me keep up!

  2. Luke,

You have some interesting links on your blog site. I found the TRADOC site educational and useful since we are both a part of TRADOC. TRADOC Live is one way the military is trying to keep up with technology and use Web 2.0 tools. In addition you have a link to a Twitter site for TRADOC. TRADOC is definitely taking the lead on Web 2.0 technology. This is fitting since TRADOC is the training command for the Army.

I also like the blog site of Pam's Instructional Technology Blog. This site has links to some good information. I was familiar with e-text books, but I was not familiar with “open textbooks”. As the article states, open textbooks can save money on educational costs. Your case study showed how blogging can assist tutors to ensure students understand the material and give them an opportunity to reflect.

I really like the Slashdot site because it covers several areas of technology. The site is very current and even had a link to the article talking about the security vulnerability of the iPhone. One must be able to stay up with current technology. Slashdot can be resourceful for educators since Web 2.0 uses several of the equipment or devices linked to the site. The site also keeps you informed about what is going on within the organizations and the leadership of the organizations.

Luke we are almost done with this tier of training. I am sure we will get practical application of our learning once we leave here.

    Sullus
